H a p p y N e w Y e a r ! Well its been 9 months since I last wrote and I figured as my New Years resolution I would kick the blog around a bit more. I think since its been a while I'll give you a quick recap of what has happened since than first. Since March 2007 I have gone through 3 jobs till my current pos ition which I think was good for me in the long run. Our son celebrated his 1st birthday in June with some frien ds and his Gr andpa and Grandma Sing from Hawaii. Kazumi went back to her ol d job, because they allowed her to bring our son Loa with her. We also found out we will be expecting our next child (another boy) in early April. Okay, back to the present. For the holidays, as usu al it was a pretty quiet affair. Spent some time at the Yu's home for a pre-Christmas get together watching all the kids going crazy and enjoying some Japaneses food. Then a stint at the LDS hospital emergency room on Christmas night (Woo-hoo!) with Loa and a case of the Croup. Which is a...
The Times They are A-Chang'in!! So a month has passed me by again.....Man I'm getting old, hah! Especially when you start using Bob Dylan album names as the title to an entry but it fits pretty well to whats been happening around the Sing (Utah substation) household. Got a n ew job working for the City of Salt Lake as their newest IT person. Woot! this is a lot nicer than where I once was but man lots to learn in a good way! It's like Christmas here! The geek/nerd version that is. New hardware (computers) come flying through this department like crazy! I have 3 desktop PC's sitting on my desk right now. A personal one, an Administrators, and a PC just to test out Vista Business. All just for me! I also have a new laptop I'm working on for another person. TOYS! TOYS! TOYS! In the heart of the city I'm about half a block north of the Salt Lake City Library. Rated the top library in the U.S. for 2006. (SLC Library Purrteee huh?!) I would have had a view like the ...
I lost weight! But not in a good way... No I didn't lose a limb! I've been sick for I think this is the third week now? If you read the last post I wrote I'm pretty sure you know who gave it to me (small sounds of a runny nosed seven month old giggling can faintly be heard in the back ground.) Took me a week and a half of feeling like wanting someone to shoot me in the head to finally go see a doctor. Thanks Kazumi! I had some major sinus issues that were so bad it was giving me flu type symptoms and a minor fever. So if it had to do with a heavy sinus headache, stuffy nose, congestion, cough, cold sweats, and a sore throat (sounds like the Scout Motto for sickness) I was your man for like 2 weeks straight! I tried over the counter stuff for days before I finally gave in and made an appointment to see the doctor. I HATE GOING TO THE DOCTOR for myself. I always end up waiting in this cool air conditioned waiting room and by the time I see a doctor I'm already feeling...
He Lives! It's Alive! After Over 2 Months! Wow over 2 months and no updates! Man been slacking sorry.... But anyways tons of stuff have happened since then just the whole holidays thing (December, and January..) I'm not gonna bore you all with too much stuff I figure pictures would probably be better anyway. For some of us (I'm including me in this folks!) we could use some of these pic's as a re-commitment for losing those extra holiday pounds. See below for a side by side of myself! BRAVENESS! (OK so you can't really see me to well as far as getting bigger but MAN! Loa really let himself go! He he!) Other than that nothing else too new except maybe Loa getting really sick with a cold and congestion. I caught a little of it but he's finally getting over it now. Just in time too. I was getting booger stains from his runny nose on all of my shirts. He sure hates Kleenex's but he sure loves wiping his nose with my shirts. I was beginning to look like a guy wh...
Happy Birthday to Me! The big 38! Man I'm old heh! How old? I still remember The Sugarhill Gang's 'Rapper's Delight' 12 inch record (yup vinyl) being played at my 8th grade dance. I can still remember wearing Angel Flights polyester slacks (I may have gone to far here but meh!) to church and being amazed at how far I could slide on my knees on the church basketball court. This of course didn't amaze my parents as much as me as I came home with the knees on my pants all burnt till they shined or were with holes. (Yum! And no! I don't like my steak that rare it's just what the cut looks precooked.) What was my B-Day present? Dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse! Woot! Definitely different here in Salt Lake City than at the Ruth Chris's in Hawaii. A bit more stuffier employees here and not a casual. Even Kazumi commented on it. Then again you can pretty much go into the one on Maui with slippers... Still again you can pretty much go anywhere on Maui in sli...
SHOTS! And other fun stuff! Woo Hoo! Almost half a month without a post! SLACKER! Hah! Well tons of stuff have happened since last I wrote. So I'll just give the summary. Life is back to normal around the homestead which means lack of sleep, baby blankets and toys everywhere, and some woman going massage, massage! All the time. (A before and after 'shot' pun intended!) Loa had another round at being a pin cushion as he went in for his second round of shots four in all. OUCH! This also meant weigh in time! After 4 months Loa has now gained a total of 10 almost 11 pounds. This actually puts him in the 90 percentile of everything but his head size. It's high also but not too high 70 percentile. It kinda sucks cause Kazumi can't really carry him for too long and her wrist has begun to hurt after handling our (not so) little one for a while. Even I find it hard to carry him for extended periods at a time. I know all you manly man types are going, 'What? he's not ...
The Return of the Loa Monster and the Task Master! Ok remember when I said a couple of times that I miss my wife and son Loa? Not anymore....THERE BACK! AHHHHH!!!! Oh and Happy Halloween! Yes they are back and Loa has learned another trick. He is now able to to lift his head up for a few seconds during tummy time. I like to cheer him when he does it and now he does it alot just to hear his' Goofball Dad' (technical name - Goofballus Dadi dufissticus) go Yay!! It's so funny he'll do it till my voice is almost horse and even when he gets tired and it becomes painful for him. He'll scrunch up his little face like he is about to cry but still try to get one last cheer out of me. I also get to first hand do what the video below amounts to. It's so funny and he loves to do it. Oh yeah and Kazumi is back too........ The faint sounds of crickets chirping in the background can be heard .... Just kidding! Yes my dear wife Kazumi has returned and as is her nature told me...
Virtues of Semi-Bacholarhood Part 3 (Last Entry) Ok so last entry of this kind because the Wife and Son come back in less than a week. Hmm? What should it be? Talked about the bed, and food? Ok got it! Entertainment time! Yeah with no one in the house but me I've been watching alot of stuff that Kazumi probably would not approve of. Not that it's bad but just not her 'cup o' tea.' Yes the male time honored tradition of viewing the 'Action Movie.' Or to be more specific Martial Arts films. Now most of these are pirate movies in two senses 1. I pirated it off of the net and 2. most of these films are rated 'arrrrr!' Ok bad pirate joke! But the way I get around it is I pirate the HK (Hong Kong) versions which first off millions of Chinese do anyway so I'm just following my heritage and birth right as being part chinese myself, and secondly since it's the HK versions they are usually not rated! Woot! Man I shoulda been a lawyer with all the techn...
Loa's 'A-Boo' Episode 1 Loa and his favorite phrase 'A Booo!" With bubble action! Loa Episode 2 'The Revenge of the Boo!' Part two of this 'Gripping Saga' continues. Again with bubble action! (Yup we got video now thanks to YouTube.com Hi-Tech Baby!)
Another post from Japan (Onsen) (Loa, Grandma, and Kazuyo) My cousin and her husband (we call him Sensei , because he is a pediatrician) had reserved a stay at an Onsen (hot spring) hotel for us (me, mom and Loa) with them before we came back to Japan. On Saturday we drove about 2 hours to the town called Haki, Fukuoka and met them (from Shimonoseki) at the hotel. I think that was the longest drive Loa experienced. He cried pretty loud for a few minutes in the car seat and then fell asleep, which is normal for him. We arrived there around 4:30pm. Although it is a hotel, our rooms were traditional Japanese style and if you requested the dinner could be served in our own room (which Sensei arranged since we have a baby with us.) (The room.) Dinner was to be served at 6pm. Loa was up by the time we arrived at the hotel, but looked tired. We took him to one of the Onsen's before dinner anyway. While I was washing myself, my cousin took him to the tub, but as soon as he touched the wate...
New Pictures of Japan Trip! Just some of the pictures Kazumi took while in Japan with Loa for your viewing pleasure! (Mark Foley-ized for Loa's Protection!) (Also keep checking the link periodically. I'll be adding more when I get them from Kazumi in her e-mails. So it won't always be the same stuff. Or you can click on the Family Pic's link in the side bar. I'll put the date of when I add pictures to the links name. Thanks again for the comments guys!)
Virtues of Semi-Bachlorehood Number 2! Week one is over and I'm still alive...Barely! Ok, so here we go again! If you read my comments to my sister in part 1 you will probably get the gist of what I'm about to write but if not read this first! Since I will be talking about what is so near and dear to most of our hearts and something that seems to be very popular among those that actually read this blog Since alot of us are polynesian. FOOD! If you live in the SLC you know where I live is fast food HELL! To give a listing of the fast food as well as other resturant places near me mostly on the west side of North Temple: Red Iguana’s (Mexican. Not really fast food and the place is always packed but I've eaten there and I don't think it's any better than Beto's. Though I heard their Mole is supposed to be good...Whatever that is.) Leatherby's (Ice Cream and I think they do Sandwich's too. Haven't been there too much since I got that 'Yellowman Disea...
The Flights and the First Day in Japan Okay, first post from Japan by Kazumi. I cannot write as good as Keoki, but I will try. Here is how our trip and our first day in Japan went. We arrived Japan at 4pm on 26th. On our flight to Osaka, Wami and I both had a bulkhead seat, but we couldn't sit together. As a matter of fact, they are not supposed to have more than one baby in each row (? section) because of the number of oxgen masks or some kind of reason. Anyhow, Loa was pretty good on the plane. On our first flight to SFO, I tried to feed him at take-off, but I started too early. He fell asleep even before we reached the runway. He was a little bit fussy one time during the flight so I fed him. He kept drinking and threw up on my shirt (great) (Keoki: 'A-Boo!'), then fell asleep again. He never woke up until we were walking around in SF airport. Although I had brought his stroller, I carried him in the Baby Bjorn and put my and Wami's bags in the stroller, which I felt...
SOLO! (Me saying goodbye at the Airport..) So the wife and son are finally off on their grand excursion to Japan for a month to see the nihon family. Leaving me to work..... Go to school.... And paying the bills....... NICE! If I think to much on it I'll probably get depressed so hmm? Lets look on the bright side and think of the advantages of being a semi-bacholer once again shall we? 1. The bed has finally been relinquished! To be more specific and give you a better understanding of how much this matters I will give you a little idea of how the sleeping arrangements are in our little home. First off I married a woman from Japan where she's used to sleeping on a futon on the floor so basically the whole floor became her bed at night growing up. This thus turns into me coming home from work to see she (Kazumi) is all over the bed, the covers are mangled and half the pillows are on the floor. Including most of the time my pillow. Wonder if she's trying to tell me something?...
A Bad Weekend.. Almost! Another weekend over and besides house cleaning and tending to the Master of the home (Loa) nothing much was done. Though we tried. Tried to get up to the Outlet shops in Park City but for some weird reason our 'Check Engine Light' came on and we didn't want to risk it. It was mostly to get baby clothes for Loa for when they go to Japan. Not that he doesn't have enough but I guess Kazumi just wants him to look his best for his grand parents and his uncles and aunties. Plus with winter coming up we just want to make sure he has stuff he won't out grow. Tried to go to Matsuri (Japanese Festival) like I mentioned in my last post but we thought it was supposed to end at 7pm when actually it ended at 5:30pm.... When we got there. NICE! But we did get to see some of the crafts like bonsai, ikebana, someone was doing caligraphy, and a few other things. I was just upset that we missed the food. grrrrr! It wasn't a total loss though. Since it was ...
More Food! Also a Loa Weight Update! Another new post though it doesn't seem like anyone is looking because of no comments (hint, hint) j/k! Yesterday got a chance to meet up with some of Kazumi's old co-workers/ friends Scott, and Shiho for dinner at Kyoto's here in Utah. Just a sampling of the food below! I had the terriyaki chicken which is rare for me (I usually get the terriyaki steak) but either way it was good since they use the same merinade anyways. Man I gotta get the receipy for the marinade. Maybe I can get Kazumi to get Shiho who works there to sneak it out for me. I know it can't be that hard. Scott got the terriyaki steak and Kazumi got the Nabeyaki Udon which was suggested by Wami another one of our friends. Man that thing was huge! Shiho had to work but she talked with us a bit between waiting tables. Next week we might be going to a Matsuri (Japanese Festival) downtown just to hang out and have some fun. They are not very big but still fun to go to an...

One is from a baby meeting Kazumi and some of our friends with babies went to at Liberty park. Sorry I also took some of the older ones down cause it begain to get repetitous. I'll add more to this post later if I have time at work but I'm losing things to write about. Of course that hasn't stopped me before but theres always a first time....
